ATELIER BOUCHER
IS THE CERAMIC STUDIO OF PAUL BOUCHER, AN ARTIST WORKING PRIMARILY IN CLAY.
THE WORK IS AN AMALGAM OF THROWN AND HAND BUILT VESSELS OF VARYING SIZE, SHAPE AND FUNCTIONALITY.
THE WORK
IS FIRED SOLELY WITH WOOD PRODUCING HEAT UP TO 2,400°F, CREATING FLY ASH AND VOLATILE SALTS.
WOOD ASH SETTLES ON THE PIECES
DURING THE FIRING, AND THE COMPLEX INTERACTION BETWEEN FLAME, ASH,
AND THE MINERALS OF THE CLAY BODY FORMS A NATURAL ASH GLAZE.
